Mr. Ames is a 1994 graduate of Ball State University.

He served as director of bands at Knox Community High School for thirteen years prior to coming to Plymouth.  His bands at Knox were repeated marching band state finalists, three-time state champion runner-up, and Bands of America Regional Champions.   Under his direction, the concert programs annually earned Gold Award ratings and the band program became the nation's first-ever Conn-Selmer All-American Band Program.   The Knox band toured New York and Philadelphia, Virginia Beach and Busch Gardens, Disney World, Universal Studios, the Bahamas, Pearl Harbor and Honolulu, Hawaii.

Mr. Ames in in his 20th year of teaching at Plymouth High School.  While at Plymouth, the concert and jazz programs have annually achieved Gold Award ratings and the marching band was a 2010 Class C state finalist and a 2013 Class B state finalist.  In 2016, 2017, 2018, and 2019, the Plymouth Indoor Winds team were World Class state and WGI national finalists and the 2016 WGI World Class silver medalist.

The instrumental music department has earned the ISSMA "All-Music Award" annually for 22 consecutive years and the program has toured Chicago, the Bahamas, Washington D.C., Pearl Harbor, Hawaii, and Disneyland Resorts.
Mr. Berg is a 2013 graduate of Indiana University Jacobs School of Music. He also holds a Master's Degree in Music Education from the University of Illinois.

Mr. Berg previously served as the band director and music teacher at Attica Jr/Sr High School and Attica Elementary. The marching band program there competed in CITSA Summer Circuit and Indiana State Fair Band Day for many years. He also co-founded the Pride of the Wabash Valley Marching Band in 2022. Also in 2022, the concert band earned its first ISSMA Organizational Gold on both its stage performance and in sight-reading for the first time in over 10 years.

Mr. Berg also directed the Attica Elementary Strings Program including violins for all students in the first and second grades. This program is in collaboration with Indiana University and has performed at the Indiana State House.

Mr. Berg is in his first year at Plymouth Bands and hopes to continue the tradition of excellence exhibited by the ensembles there.
